72 Evinrude 50hp, No Spark

I have a 72 Evinrude 50hp. The guy I bought it from had hooked the battery up wrong and fried the stator, it was visibly melted. So I replaced it and the rectifier. I still have no spark at either plug. Should I just replace the power pack and coils. Do you think those could have been fried to?

Don't really know the answer on that one. But the power pack is not normally connected to the battery on the Mag CD system, so It would seem offhand that it wouldn't damage it. Even if it did, it shouldn't harm the coils.

had a 73 50 hp. seems to me that connect backwards, would fry the rectifer, turn the key and you fried every thing else. i think it fried the power pack. lose connections can also fry them.

Thanks for your input. I went ahead and ordered a new power pack and 2 coils. Hope this works.
