72 Johnson 9.5 prop

The stock specs for these are 8-1/8x8. Websites recommend 8-1/4x8. Would I need an adapter or something to run 8-1/4 or would it fit no problem.

Also, a friend had one with these specs in plastic. Would a plastic prop of these specs work or not at all?

I am running an 8 1/4x8 on mine no problem. Both of my props are aluminum

Stay away from the plastic if you can.

Surprisingly, the plastic ones hold up better than one would think. We had a fleet of them in rental service and people ground both kinds to bits on the oyster bars.

I personally never had any luck with the plastic ones. JMO
