I have what I think is a '72 , 70HP, 3 cylinder Mercury. Last outing it slipped out of gear at full throttle in a slight chop. I was able to nurse it home after jiggling the throttle a bit. I am told that it is probably the clutch and that parts will cost around $750 (!!!!!!!) I am also told that I can get a 2nd hand leg for around $550 and that the leg is the same from 1971 to 1995. The task of putting on a new leg is probably a much cheaper proposition than having the clutch replaced and I figure if I can get one that is only 8-10 years old, then that might be the better option. Does anyone have any suggestions on this?

Thanks, Tony
