The + side of all your gauges go the key switch. ( usually they hook to each other and the end one hooks to the I terminal.
The - side of all your gauges do the same but hook to a ground under the dash ( comes from the battery)

The "s" on the oil goes to your engine sender on the block.
volt meter is ready to go.
fuel "S" goes to sender in tank
Tach "S" goes to - side of coil.
Temp "S" goes to sender on intake manifold
Speedometer may have a tube to the stearn ( transom)
All the lights should hook to your running light switch.

Back in the day Slickcraft and others would take the ground wire in the engine harness and hook it to the ground on the volt meter and then hook all grounds there. For the dash items they would run a wire from the Key switch to the + side of the volt meter then hook all keyed items there.

It is better to run your lights and other things you might add to a different circuit. ( do a search on this site to see how to run a couple of new wires to the dash.

Is the + wire color BLACK ?? (They are all connected together) I have all the Guages hooked up but when I turn on the nav. Lights the guages PEG the needle...
There is a GREEN color wire that I dont know its location, The only green wire on the boat is the ground on the fuel tank, Could it go to the fuel guage ??
Thanks, Rich

+ is red (battery +), neg is black, purple is ignition + (+12 when key on). Pink is the fuel sender. Fuel tank should also have a black ground. The green is typically a bonding wire from the fill to the tank to prevent static sparks. Not sure why there is green is at dash. Some boats have a green to everything metal to keep at same potential for corrosion protection, also connected to inwater zincs. Doubt you have that on your boat. As a 1972 someone before you could have changed wires with wrong/different colors over the years. You'll just have to trace them to their source. The colors above have been in marine use a long time, but I don't think were required in 1972.

Here is the instrument wiring diagram that you should be following. While the wire colors may not match yours, this is how instruments are wired and it is not difficult to determine what wire is what. That has already been described for you. The "I" terminal on the igntion switch feeds the "I" terminal on the first gauge in the string. That terminal is then jumpered to the next and the next. Grounds are wired exactly the same way but they connect to the black wire in the engine harness.

Check for red and black (#8 or #10 wires) back at the battery (not the large battery cables). If they are present, THOSE are the feed for the fuse panel and for all accessories including the instrument lights and switches.

or this one works too:
