Hello i recently had a problem with oil leaking where the fitting met the hose on the (in the photo) left/rear hose. I got a new hose and replaced it. i topped off the pump with oil and then tried to raise and lower the out drive. it raised and lowered fine for a couple of times then now it will go up fine but on will go down about 1/4 of the way and stop. i tried to crack the hoses open and raise and lower the drive thinking there was air in the system and let some of the oil out, when i did that a couple of times and tightened the fittings again the drive seems to work just fine untill i would raise it and walk away for about 1 minute and try to lower it again and i have the same symptom.
Now it seems like the cylinders are also now leaking please see photo blow i have drawn an arrow to where the oil is coming out and would like some guidance on repairing everything to working order again. I forgot to mention since the leak started it is slower than normal when it is being raised.

Thanks

Hi Guys:

If that's where the problem is then I think you have to either (i) rebuild your rams or, (ii) buy new ones. To rebuild them you can download the correct Mercruiser manual and buy the rebuild kit from a Mercruiser dealer. To buy new you can get the OEM part for big bucks or buy aftermarket replacements for half the cost.
