I pulled apart the fuel pump and some of the parts between the pump and the engine block, but can't get it back together. Do I need a maintenance manual or is there an on-line diagram?

Also, any tips on keeping it running good. I use it very infrequently (3x per year). Run it about 1x per month with a hose and remove the gas line to drain the carb after every use.

hi tbird

I have found no useful fuel pump diagrams in any OMC manual....don't know why....maybe a parts breakdown would be of some use.

Howdy, Tbird.

First: Yes you need a manual EVERY time you try something you never did before. If you don't want to spend the bux, go to the library.

Second: Running the carb dry does prevent varnish in the carb, but running the bearings and cylinder walls dry may prevent the carb from being useful. Drain the float bowl at the bottom after shutting down the engine.

And Tbird: Well, you've got that covered.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

I agree with JB, if you use it only that often, drain the carb....you don't want to go months in hot weather with full carb.

Thanks for the good tips. Let's hope I can get this thing back together so I can get my fishing line wet again soon. It's approaching bass season here in north TX.
