~73 chrysler 85hp ignition module bad?

No fire on all three plugs...worked fine before I put it up for the winter.<br /><br />I saw on some other posts that with this motor having one wire to the distributor and one to the<br />coil from the black box(6cb2012b Motorola) that<br />it could be replaced with a cdi and coil from ford escort.Anyone know what year ford escort?<br />Do we use the same coil? <br /><br />Motor Mod# 857he<br /><br />Not positive black box dead but working on it.<br />Any help will be repaid with blessings of your name every time I go fishing this year.

Barry...I would check the points and the wire connections first off...not forgetting the the coil wire...if you need a motorola cdi unit for that I do have a couple of used ones around here somewhere...just a Thought

I found out that the points werent making contact after I got my meter out...but would like to have your email in case I need part in future...thanks for reply...<br /><br />By the way can you buy these points locally?<br /><br />barry.heine@siemens.com

Barry...I don't know if you can purchase the points locally, check with a Mercury dealer, or a Napa auto parts dealer...I knbow there are sites on the internet that sell these parts, just don't have any info offhand...you can do a search of this site to find what you need...I do have some used elecrical parts for your motor if needed, my email is Thought100@aol.com...good luck...

Barry.. look up the chrysler crew on the internet. they got parts and manuals for your engine. I got a 72 chrysler 35hp. good source for parts. they will next day the parts if needed.
