I just drained the gear lube from the lower unit on this old motor and it was gray and milky. I just received the boat and motor and wanted to change the gear lube. I understand I need Type C, but also wanted to change the nylon washers from the vent and drain screws -- the upper one had not washer and the lower one looks old. There are no boating supply places around -- can I just use small 0-rings or something else from the local hardware store? Also, do you know how much Hi-vis gear lube this thing should take? Thank you for your help.

It will hold 26 ozs. You can buy the washers online, so just grab a bag full of them.

Thanks, Chris -- that's a big help. Any particular part number I should be looking for or just "lower unit drain washers"?
