73 Johnson 6 HP Rewind Starter Mechinism

I am trying to repair the Rewind assebly. I broke the upper pinnion gear and am replacing it but I don't know what makes the P. Gear raise up when you pull the chord. I have the spring clip which goes arround the saft but I dont have the part that forces it up? Does any one have a picture of this assembly or video of it?

Cheif, thanks for posting this. Would you happen to know where I an get a 3 blade prop for this engine and which pitch would be best for a 12' fishing boat? Matt

If the boat is a light aluminum the stock 8x8p prop should work fine. Go with a 8x7.25p for a heavy boat. Prop is Pin Drive.

Iboats should have either.
