I'm having fuel problems with this double carborated nightmare. I've tried everything. the problem is the bottom carb is getting to much gas bogging the motor out. I've adjusted everything to specification at least 4 times. What could the problem be. Please don't say a stuck float, I've put new ones in.

There are non-factory fuel lines going from the bottom carb to the top carb. Could this line give me problems. Any help at this point would be great. I'm missing out on prime fishing right now, please reply ASAP.
Thanks!

Howdy, BL.

I can see that you are frustrated. We can help.

I doubt that you have done everything. You still have a problem. We need to know what you have done and what results you got.

What is happening that tells you that the bottom carb is getting too much fuel?

What, exactly, have you done, particularly to that carb? Have you removed the float needle seat to check for obstruction? Can you pump fuel past the needle when the float bowl is full? Are the jet orifices fully seated?

What have you adjusted 4 times?

Let us know what is happening.

Good luck. :)

It is brutal to get at the carbs on those early '70s 500s. As JB says though, if you're flooding your needle valve isn't closed - either it's leaking or something is letting a lot of fuel out of your float chamber. The 'non-factory' fuel lines wouldn't cause it.
