Magna-Power II ignition? If so test no further, the cdi unit under the flywheel is not functioning. Try googling CDI and see if they are making a replacement yet.

it says magna power II on the wiring side but it looks like the cdi is on the other side of the motor is there another one under the flywheel ??IMG-20110411-00021.jpgIMG-20110411-00022.jpg

Thats the Prestolite ign. system. Chrysler offered that as a retrofit kit for the Mag II.
This CDI box is still available. Try CDI electronics, maxrules or FranzMarine.

Re: 74 - 76 Chrysler 60 no spark

Yes this system was much better. Chrysler used this on all 3-4 cyl. engine and when it became Force US MARINE also used it. The system has 2,3 or 4 Ign.coils, 1 stator and 1 triggerplate.
Look at outboardignition.com they have a troubleshot guide for Chrysler Force.

Re: 74 - 76 Chrysler 60 no spark

well i have narrowed it down to the stator not getting anything from it the triggers are working and the charging system works so i was just wondering which motors have the same stator as this ones ??

Ok, have a talk with Franz at Franz Marine, he will help you. I think later Chrysler 65Hp (1980-84) and early Force 50Hp (1985- ) will fit, but I not 100%.

Re: 74 - 76 Chrysler 60 no spark

Swecond question: No the engines are completely different. The 60 was a completely redesigned engine with a beautiful block and a lower unit that mimicked the design of the 75-150 Chryslers. Everything mechanical on these engines is different from any other Force or Chrysler. Once you do get it running, you will find that it is a VERY torquey engine with gobs of low end power. Its only weak point is undersized gears in the lower unit. Do not underprop it as the torque developed will strip out the forward gear teeth if you do a "hole shot."

The two cylinder Stator only used one winding whereas the three and four cylinders used two. The stator only charges the CD boxes and in a separate circuit the battery. There is no "timing" so to speak. If you can not find a two cylinder stator from a later Force engine, use a three or four and only use one leg.

Re: 74 - 76 Chrysler 60 no spark

alright got the stator on and it was an exact match so now i have tons of spark but i wanted to make sure the wires going from the cdi box to the coils are correct the previous owner said he thought it was coils but they are fine . so i have a red and an orange wire comming from the cdi box and each one goes to the white wire i am just wondering if orange or red goes to the top cylinder and bottom ???

Re: 74 - 76 Chrysler 60 no spark

nevermind that last post i was looking around the forums and found a picture of a 65hp that looked identical to my motor and orange goes to the top the guy before me had switched the coils from top to bottom and i was just going off the faded color of the connectors and had them switched so i put them right and it fired right up and idles nicely in the bucket cant wait to get it on the water and give it a run
