Hello,
okay I got the carpet out and checked for soft spots luckily I found none. I just walked the boat testing the floor with my shoes. Is there another method. What does concern me is that it is wet in the drain hole. I know it is normal since it has been raining but should there be another reason for concern.

What should I wash the inside down with before re-carpeting.

1. For extra protection is there something I can put on the fiberglass floor and around exposed wood for waterproofing.

2. What brand or kind of carpet should I get?

For those of you with the same boat getting the side walls off particularly in the front was a pain. I noticed that if i remove the metal lining it would be easier to re install the side walls. However it is riveted on the boat.

3. How hard is it to take out and install rivets?

4. The boat is fiber glass and in need of a serious wash. What can I use for a good clean?

Any info help, guidance would be most appreciated.
Thanx

Re: 74 Ouachita restoration Questions

Epoxy resin to seal the wood, but it has NO UV protection so you would need to give it a couple of coats of Rustoleum Oil Based Paint. If you're gunna carpet no paint required.

Indoor Outdoor carpet with HIGH UV protection

You use a 3/8 drill to drill out rivets

Use any product that has Oxylic Acid in it to clean your boat. Believe it or not, toilet Bowl Cleaner is something that works really well.

Some more and better pics of the over all boat would really help

Thanx for the reply ok more pics for more advice.

If I drill out the rivets in pic2 the metal lining around the inside of the boat, wil I have to get new lining?

The toilet cleaner stuff would that be just for the inside, or can I use it all over the boat?

Once again thanx for the reply Wood.

You should be able to salvage the aluminum. Cleaner works on both.
