I have a 1975 15 HP Johnson Seahorse. 15RL75C
I got it for 75 bucks and plan replacing the 9.9 merc Kicker im presently using.
I got a control box off of ebay and it is for something like '71-'79 models.
Its got cables on it that with the connector kit for what appears to be low horsepower.
(below 30)
I can see how the shift cable attaches with that thumb screw. (push in and turn)
But there is no place for the collar on the cable to slip into to hold that part of the cable stationary so it can do its thing, moving the shift lever on the business end.
Then I can pretty much see how the throttle cable will attach on that little ball stud on the linkage (slide the cable end on the ball and snap that metal clip thing over it) but there isnt an access plug to remove to get the cable in there to hook it on, let alone a little slot of some kind to hold the collar on the cable stationary.
Do I need another bracket of some sort that attaches to the motor to receive them cables?
Do I have to drill some kind of access hole in the lower cowl of the motor for the throttle cable??
Oh help me!! Pictures??
A PM can be sent to t.wagner404@verizon.net
A big giant THANKS in advance to the infinite wizdom of the fella that answers this one.
