75' 2 hp johnson, can i put merc foot oil in it?

I have a 2hp johnson 75' ventage motor, i am try to start and have read about the sleeping engine coming awake, my question is: since i have some merc foot oil laying around, can i drain the existing foot oil out of the 2hp johnson and replace it with merc foot oil for testing purposes?

I wouldn't know why not. After all, that 2hp isn't exactly high tech rocket science.

as long as it's 90 weight foot oil.
