Just got a rebuilt 65hp 3 cylinder from a nice gent and I'm still gettin' the bugs out. Got it mounted and running good 40:1 for two tanks to seat rings etc. takin' it easy. I had a little trouble getting the linkage setup. Got neutral in the middle now and full forward, planes real fast cool, not wide open yet of course, but I can't get reverse. The throttle winds up like it thinks it's in reverse but no gear. I remember my old '61 40hp had a little trouble with reverse too. Also the hook latch doesn't engage in neutral or what it thinks as reverse. Do I just have to spin the cylinder on the treads of the cable to push the neutral back more, or does it sound as though there's more to it. The shifter arm looks to be set right in the middle of it's throw for neutral now. Any help would be cool. other than that it's a great motor

Ahoy, Dad.

Welcome to iboats. :)

This is a forum for non-repair questions. I assume you want to repair your engine.

I will move this to Merc Troubles.

Good luck. :)
