I have a 1975 Evinrude 9.9hp motor that has an electronic ignition system.
The factory service manual and the parts book says there's no such animal.
Model 10525C Serial 0001284
Any of you guys know of a conversion that could have been done?

Also have a 1975 Johnson 9.9 and it has the driver coil and two sets of points and condensers. Model 10r75c serial E4183672 This one is depicted in the service and parts manual (Evinrude manuals). This mag was all tore to hell from a part coming adrift while running. Almost looks as though the flywheel came loose although the taper and key look good.
Good thing this baby was cheap! Another "it ran last year before I put it in the garage" deals.

Such is life. Cheers

I've heard of conversion kits for these mtrs and I think it was on here. Hopefully somebody will chime in with some more info.

As far as I know there was no factory conversion, however---

It is possible to convert the magneto ignition to a CD type by using the flywheel, timing plate assembly, coils & powerpack off of 1977 & later motors. However you would need to either use the later head or make a adapter bracket to mount the powerpack onto.

Would also have to use the newer kill button unit, as the wires are attached differently from the output power, (they use rubber plug in connector from the powerpack as compared to the early plastic connectors, which shorted out the points).
