OK, I'll start by telling everything that I have done since I bought this boat. 1- new power pack 2- changed all three coils 3- new plugs 4- rebuilt all three carbs 5- replaced every piece of fuel hose 5- new fuel pump and filter 6- new impeller 7- new thermostat. There are basically two problems that I am having, 1- Engine dies when put into gear 2- I have water coming out from two holes at the back of the motor just under the powerhead cowling. It is also coming out of a small square hole in the front at the seam where the foot bolts on, and at a small round hole just above and to the right of the water inlet holes. Any and all help that you can provide me to help me fix these problems and finally get to enjoy the satisfaction of my great transom repair job, will be greatly appreciated! Chuck B.

I forgot to mention a few things. I noticed that when I give the engine throttle, the timing advance does not move. Should this advance move along with the throttle? Should the spring behind the advance lever keep enough tension as to keep the lever against the throttle lever?

Hi, Chuck.

Your ignition timing plate should move when the throttle is advanced.

Go to your manual and review the "Link & Synch" procedure.

Good luck. :)
