Do I have to put the motor in a test tank to make timing adjustments? If I don't, is it ok to spin the prop out of water while making these adjustments? I am of course using the "ear muffs"
Also, do I need to do the distributor pulley alignment and the timing pointer adjustment?

Thank you all for any help!

J1

you really neede to have it either in a test tank, or in the water, running the engine just on muffs at a rpm over idle could cause sever problems not just to your engine but you as well, dont forget we are setting idle timing and wot ,

You can set the timing Statically. Disconnect the throttle tower. Get someone to turn the engine over. Advance the throttle tower by hand. Set your WOT timing

TMD

Throttle tower is the long arm that the throttle cable hooks to. When you move the shifter control at the front. The second cable to start moving is on the throttle arm.

TMD
