I have to put the motor in neutral and rev up the throttle all the way just to get it started. it will not start in idle. It also cuts out if you simply shift into gears. I have to floor it just to keep the motor running:confused: Is there anyway that i can fix this (whatever the cause may be). If its carbs, do i have to take them off and clean them or is it something simple??

thanks

Re: 75HP cuts out in idle and shifting

sounds like you have the same problem i've been having on my 70 hp. i'm supposed to be meeting with a boat mechanic buddy tonight. he said it sounds like the low speed jets on the carbs are clogged and need to be cleaned. if all goes according to plan tonight, i'll post the process we use for cleaning the carbs. i asked the same question a week or 2 ago about whether the carbs could be at least partially cleaned without removing them. here's the link to that thread. read the last 2 posts from intrepidvoyager for cleaning carbs without removing them...
