75HP Evinrude Loses Power During Acceleration

Half way through acceleration. the motor loses power, as if it has been choked. It eventually accelerates fully after nursing it over this hump. It occurs at about the time that the low gear (starting) power cable switches over to the top gear cable. but I think it happens because the roller that moves over the the contour plate that governs the choke isn't working properly. I believe a spring, or a clip is missing that holds the roller tight to the contour plate (see picture of roller on a contour plate).

ANy thoughts of a solution?

Thanks,
Craig

That roller needs to be replaced an oring holds that on top the shaft. Then do a link and sync. What is the model # of your motor. Have you tried pumping the primer ball on the fuel line when it bogs? What is your compression? Have you done a spark check? Checked for water intrusion? Water in your fuel?

??----The thing with the red lever is the electric primer valve.-----That wonderful unit essentially replaced the choke flappers on your motor.---The roller opens throttle plates and has nothing to do with choking this motor.-And why are you referring to a low gear cable and a high gear cable.----Very confusing.-----How did this motor run for you last season ?

The long vertical lever that moves the timer base------timer base should move to full advance BEFORE the "contour plate" kicks the carburetor throttles wide open. If the timer base is sticky, it will lag and the carbs will open too soon, before full spark advance. When that happens, it will stumble, or even stall.
