I had allways thought 1 1/2 turns out on the adj screw well manual says 1 turn. Runs cleaner only half a turn out from lightly seated position will it still get enough oil? Anyone have an idea of the perfect position 3/4 turn out

I don't know if this helps, but: The manual for my 71 Johnson says...turn idle mixture screws clockwise until lightly seated then turn counterclockwise 5/8 of a turn. Run engine to operating temp (don't forget cooling water) then, one carb at a time, turn screw clockwise (in) until engine begins to misfire, then turn counterclockwise until engine is operating at highest RPM. Repeat procedure with other carb(s). This should be done in a tank or in the water. If you must, you can use muffs, but you won't get the perfect adjustment. Just my $.02 since I don't own a Force.

Anyone own a 96 75hp force what does your Force motor manual say. I understand each hp has its own adj position however all 75hp should be the same.

Fishmaster,
I own a Force 75 HP -1998 - I don't have my repair manual yet it's on order, still waiting for, but in the owner's manual they say: turn idle mixture screws clockwise until lightly seated, has to be set at 3/4 first than turn in until backfires and than unscrew until it reaches max idle or smoother but don't go above 1 1/2 turn - and they also saying richer is better than leaner for lubrication.

Don't know if this help but it's a try

Mario ;)

Hey Fishmaster, though you were going to jack that Force up and slide a new Honda underneath? Your last post said it was dead and you wanted to sue somebody...Just wondering

Dmessy dude Me bad it was the landyard switch. Could be all thats been wrong with my motor is the carb adj. Would be very hard to belive but tried turning adj out half a turn and she smoothed out? Do you have the original manual on your 75hp force what does it recommend. If I run to lean could I run into trouble or is this right. I wonder if shes been running rich and cold fouled. Never did seem to get up to temp. Anyone with a 75force help me out as I want this to be the last post on my motor. FIXED!

Glad to hear you got it working again Fish...
Your idle adjustment isn't all that critical.
Just warm the engine, and screw in till it runs crappy. Then back off till it smooths out. I had mine set around 3/4-1 turn out.
Don't sweat the small stuff, you cann't idle or troll this motor anyway as it'll loadup and foul plugs(nature of the beast). Forces run like a light switch, on(WFO) or off.
One thing I did that helped low and midrange was drop the main jet 1 size. Keep a close eye your plugs if you opt to do this.
