I have a 1985 75HP Mercury outboard. Sometimes when I start it up it acts like it is only running on 3 cylinders. While running after a while it will kick in on 4 cylinders. Than will run fine. This seems to be acting more and more frequently. I have changed the plugs but no difference. Where should I be looking to diagnose this problem?

Howdy, jlash.

Welcome to iboats. :)

You might have a cold failure in the powerpack, jlash. See what happens if you warm up the powerpack with a hair dryer before you start her up.

Good luck, and let us know what you find.

I am sorry I don't know what a powerpack is. My manual only mentions: stator, trigger, igition coil, and switchbox. Is the powerpack one of these items?
