75HP Suzuki popping out of gear when applying throttle...:-|

OK.. Last weekend we took the boat out and it has been running great. I have a 1996 DT 75. The problem happens when applying the throttle. Before the boat planes out, it acts as if it is popping out of gear. The RPMs red line but the prop is not turnning. Its not making any wierd noises that I can hear over the engine. The prop turned fine while I was flushing the motor, so its only happening while in the water. I have not had a chance to check the lower unit oil but wanted to see if anyone has had this problem. I called the local boat dealer and he also said that it was a spun hub. I pulled the prop and have never been so happy to find a broken boat part. I just wish that I had thought of that durring the hour ride at idle speed back to the ramp!!!
