I had it rebuilt then had a different guy install it. It cranks, but wont start. It's got great compression, is getting spark, but not pulling fuel to the cylinders.
guy said he thinks the pistons were installed in the wrong direction. ...and that hes done working on it.
Facebook group says if the pistons were in wrong, it wouldnt crank and that I should put spray some fuel in the cylinders at the plugs, cause its prob just dry from being rebuilt.
if the pistons were in wrong, would it crank? Surely it's not as simple as living the cylinders.
What all should I be checking.
thanks

I do not think the motor would rotate 360* if the pistons were put in backwards. They have an "eyebrow" shaped deflector that fits into the cylinder head closely.

However, if you must look...Easy enough to tell if the cylinders are in backwards. Merc 1500 motors have a round hole in the piston skirt. Remove a transfer cover and have a look.

Gee, I would spray some 50::1 fuel into the carbs and see if she will fire. If so, pull the brass hex bolts at the base of the carbs and pump the fuel primer. Fuel should run out the bottom of the carbs.

Check the firing order of the cylinders. It is moulded into the distributor cap. Top cylinder is #1, bottom is #6.
