The saga continues!
I have replaced the inlet manifold gaskets and cleaned the reed valve assembly. After reassembly the motor will now not show any sign of life - not even backfiring! I have checked the ignition timing - points open after TDC and condencers test ok.
I have a few questions: 1)What is the purpose of the reticulating valve on the inlet manifold, 2)what is the metric equivalent of 0.022 inches, 3)are the ignition coils prone to failure and if not, what should the resistance reading be between the primary and the sparkplug lead (I am measuring 12000 ohms). 4)Have I overlooked something simple?
Thanks for your help.
p.s. I might add that I got this motor in three boxes and I have rebuilt it over time, so I might now be sitting with the original problem which the previous owner must have had.
