76 Evinrude 35 hp....Whats it worth?

I purchased a starcraft kingfisher as a project boat. It came with a 1976 Evinrude 35 hp motor with controls. I can't use it and would like to sell it. I took it to a mechanic who said there was good compression, and water pump was fine as was the lower end. It needed carb kits, and there was no spark. Quoted me $3-400 to do the job. My question is, should I put the money into it in order to sell it, or will I lose money after its done. Any idea what the motor is
worth in good working condition? Thanks for the help.

Where i live it would be worth $6-800 running , if i had it i would sell it as is. my op.
