Hi , I just got my first boat,it's a 15'6" 1964 Chris Craft (corsair)glass with a 1976 70 hp johnson. It is bogging down when I hit wakes it barely run's. if i pick up the motor and move it side to side it work's fine till the next good wake. It goes great when it is right(30-35 mph with pep)...I changed the plug's and the coil's. I also drained the carb's through the bowl screws, forcing fuel through them individualy, cleaned fuel filter, all this and it still suck's. Also it will die on acceleration to mid or full throttle after I shut down then restart after sittin for a few,i have to fiddle with the throttle to get it right..Plus.. where can I find a diagram for my steering cable assembly?.it broke yesterday, i put it back together but it isn't correct I'm sure..

Frustrated Skipper to be.. Fish On!! and On !!

Does the primer bulb go soft or collapse? If so check the vent on the tank and check the pick up tube (it has a screen on it that can plug). Also have you decarbed the motor? it could just be gummed up. you can also run some B-12 in the gas that will help over time. I am guessing you have the old style two cable steering, it is pretty hard to mess up putting cable back on it, just make sure you wind enough cable on the helm to get full travel then just thread it through all the pulleys and get a little tension on them and you are ready to go. Then you grab a six pack and head for the lake, don't forget to check out the bikinis :D
