I have a 76 Johnson seahorse with remote steering and ignition. It all started when I left the key on between fishing holes when I got there the engine wouldn't start no power. So I checked the fuse and it was blown so I replaced it. Know it will start right up then die after a few seconds and won't start again after that. Also on a side note the ignition kill switch stopped work a couple months back any ideas on what that could be and what wire is it so I can replace it?

Time to test the switch. Do you have an ohm meter?

Disconnect battery
Check for continuity between the batt and A terminal of switch. You want no continuity with switch off and continuity with switch on and also in start position
you should also have continuity between the A and S terminal when in start position
You should not have continuity between the M terminals with the switch on or in start but you should have continuity with it off.
You should have continuity between Batt and C with key pushed in on the on and start positions.
