76 Merc 1150 - RPM Loss

Hi Recently bought a glastrong with a Merc 1150 and the frist run saw RPM up in the 5500 level and 34 knots but the next day i took it out and coudl not get the RPM over 4300 ??? Also the boat keeps stalling when i place the trottle in nu\eutral and the only way to keep it running is the keep the cold start lever up until i shift..<br /><br />any places i should start to look .. much appreciated

welcome aboard,<br />I would start by making sure you have good spark<br />on all 6 cyl. you have a service manual, right?<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.

thanks for the comments MY, no i do not have a manual other than what came with the orignal motor although changing the spark plugs should not be a big deal.<br /><br />will try this today and let you know.. will likely to some de-carb stuff as well but i am a real novice so don't want to do much more than basic stuff for now<br /><br />thanks kmanster

pull your plug wires one at a time.... if no<br />change in performance when a wire is removed,<br />that's a dead cylinder. be careful, she put's<br />out a lotta juice <br />good luck,<br />M.Y.
