New to iboats,but avid TTer (thumper talk) motor cycle forum. Anyway I just bought a 1979 Chrysler W/1977 70hp evinrude. The first weekend we took it out the motor ran good,but started to act weird, like it wouldn't hit on all three cylenders all the time. So i sprayed carb cleaner in the carbs thinking it would help when i got home. The next day we took it out and it ran ok still same symptomes. Last weekend we took it out after buying new plugs and it actually ran like crap.Changed back and forth w/old ones and no difference. Got home did compression check and all read 90 psi. not the best i know but shouldn't run like crap, right? I cleaned fuel filter made sure fuel lines were good and i am putting sea foam in tank this weekend and going to run that to see if that helps. Any other ideas would be much appreciated.
By the way, runs great w/muffs but in barrel not so hot untill it blows out alot of water. I understand it needs the back presure at exaust for true performance.
