77 evinrude fuel pump

i have a 77 115hp 115793S. the fuel is gone. im looking for a rebuild kit on e-bay but i cant find one. I found plenty of kits for a 78 or newer. I also found entire pumps for 78 and newer 115's for really good prices. Would a 78 pump fit on my 77 ?? whats the difference?? thanks

The '78 kits will work, but you'll have to save the bronze piece because the newer ones won't fit. All the seals, gaskets and diaphragms are the same though.
