77 evinrude stalls when shifted into gear

The engine starts and runs but when shifted into any gear it stalls out please advise what to look for first thank you.

Hi, John.<br /><br />First go through this Forum for about the last two weeks. Look for threads about no power under load, no power, stalls in gear, etc.<br /><br />Read those threads and take their advice.<br /><br />Then come back and tell us what you have found.<br /><br />Good luck.
