Getting my ducks in a row here ...
The Job: Install a Seachoice 11681 Kill Switch to my 1977 Merc 500, 50 HP w/ Thunderbolt Ignition
Wiring diagram: http://forums.iboats.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=5626&d=1189457911)
The Plan: (disconnect the Battery and run two 14 awg wires to the control box)
1. Splice from Yellow wire (E), run to one node of kill switch.
2. Splice from Black wire (D), run to one node of kill switch.
The Test: Start the Motor:
1. When the Kill switch clip is pulled out, it should complete the circut D-E, killing the motor.
2. The motor should not be able to start unless the Kill Switch clip is put back in.
3. When the Kill Switch clip is put back in, the motor should start and run as usual.
The Questions:
1. Does this look correct?
2. Does anybody have some lessons learned to share?
Thanks,
GL
