Dear Friends,i am new on this board and i need your help.My wife and i got a 77 Glastron Bal Harbour. We bought this boat a few Years ago and took it to a repair-Shop,because the engine and the Sterndrive were broken. The Mechanic took a lot of Money and"repaired"the boat. But a thermostat he was not able to find,he said. The following Year we were busy with working,so we used the boat only for 3 hours. After asking a few times for the thermostat he finnally found one and he installed it.Within he also installed a new Sterndrive upper unit, because the gear ratio was wrong.Driving about 25mph the engine was doing around 4400rpms with the biggest prop(20*14)by half opened throttle.
After that the boat was going 28mph with 4400rpm and half opened throttle. On this test drive the engine was overheating after a few minutes. He took the boat back to his shop and we said we want to be with him when he repairs the engine.Afew days later the engine was repaired, without telling us and we took another test drive.Again the engine was overheating. Now we took the boat with uns .Now we went to a lawyer, and the court ordered an expert for the next test drive.By this drive the engine overheatet totally and broke.
Reason:Building in the thermostat in wrong direction.
In a few weeks we have a Date at the court with the Mechanic, because he sais it is not his fault.Does someone has an Idea how to handle this to win in the end?Do you have some OMC-manuals from 72-79 for seing how the gear ratio from the 235 V8 was over the time. Can you help me with this?
Berni
