I just had to change the tilt trim motor on my 78 150. Port transom bracket came right off (what a suprise) But and a big but all three screws for the motor broke. I took the tilt trim unit off to drill the screws. I had to cut the tilt pin to get the unit off, It looks like someone mushroomed the pin trying to get it off. does anyone have the part number for the pin, bushing, and clips for this. I would rather have the numbers before I go to the dealer to be sure I get the right parts. Also what should I lube the pin with? When I got the trim motor off I found some sludge in the bottem where the pump is, not in the screen, Is this normal? It looked like metal almost like the sludge in an automatic transmission pan.

hello
cutting the pin is kinda normal. no help with part numbers but they stayed the same for v4-v6 crossflows for years and years. the sludge is normal. try to clean it out as best you can but dont allow it to enter the pump.
good luck and keep posting

Thanks Rodbolt I held the unit upside down and flushed out the sludge with trim fluid. I thought it was normal just wanted to confirm it. Thanks again
