78 25hp evinrude tiller swap to 81 35hp remote

Hey guys, First off i have to thank all of iboats for putting up with my questions throughout the years. I got another quick question to ask.

I currently own, and operate a 78 25hp evinrude sportsman with pull start.

I currently found a 1981 35hp in ALOT better condition.. for a GREAT DEAL. however its remote/e-start.

Is it possible to make the 1981 a pull start/tiller using my 1978 25hp parts..

and make the 1978 25hp a remote/e-start?

The motors look very simliar accept for the hub through exhaust on the '81
I will be inspecting the 81 35hp tommrow anything i should look for???

all you can do is compare parts here:

you can keep the electric start fairly simply, just a start and kill button on the motor. the tiller is going to be the problem, if there is one.

if you buy the motor we will get to the simple wiring.

i have an 83 35 that someone converted to remote, took tiller off, for new replacement was almost $400, for all the parts.

By the parts manual they did produce a tiller model. Maybe check salvage yards for tiller parts. The electric will be easy to do.
