this thing seems to run great winds out nicely but when I start the motor. I have to pull the start lever up and leave it there. If I push it down slowly it will idle down but not low enough that I would want to engauge forward or reverse. If i push down to far it stalls out and I dont seem to have a happy medium on idle speed. I would say with out a tach i go from 1000 rpm to stumble and stall. It will not run under 1000 rpm.

I am pretty sure its a low speed idel adjustment but I am unsure how to adjust it on this motor. I have a 72 65hp FSM for a reference at the moment but the idle adjustments are different so I am stuck. I cant get a service manual till monday and I want to fix this tomorrow morning so I can finally get this thing in the water after 7 months of tickering. This is all I lack other than a kill switch issue. Can some one point me to a write up or give me instruction on fixing the idle?

thanks

i don't know the motor but i know how much it sucks not being able to go out after doing so much work on it. I did the same got 2 miles form launch and it died. Had to sit in back playing with it going from crawl to 1/2 idle. So it might be smart to just wait for the manual. Its usually on the tops or the carb unless its fixed needles but i dont know.
