I have an Evinrude 150849S that I have been tinkering with for a few weeks. Got a sweet deal on an old Ranger bass boat that I couldn't refuse. Below I will list the parts that have been replaced.

Carbs were replaced
reeds were replaced with Boyesen two stage
1 coil pack
both power packs
starter and solenoid
all fuel lines are new

The engine will idle just fine on the muffs and somewhat okay on the water. The engine instantly dies when you place it in gear. I have done the following troubleshooting

Compression (my tester is poor quality but all cylinders ranged between 95-100)
Spark jumps a 7/16 gap while attached to an adjustable spark tester
Cylinder drop test

I have performed other troubleshooting but this was to figure out why it wouldn't run at all when I first got the engine. What lead me to perform a cylinder drop test was after the engine reached operating temp, I touched the engine block and noticed it was much cooler on the port side vs starboard.

Below are the results of the cylinder drop test

Cylinder #1 - Engine sputtered and died
Cylinder #3 - Engine sputtered and died
Cylinder # 5 - Engine sputtered and died

Cylinder # 2 - No change
Cylinder # 4 - No change
Cylinder # 6 - Engine sputtered and died

This lead me to the conclusion that Cylinder #2 and # 4 are the cause of my troubles. I hooked a digital tach to each spark plug and go the same RPM readings on each cylinder.

At this point I am at a loss. I have tried what I know of or I have overlooked something. Please help!!!

Sounds like the orange wires from powerpack to coils on #2 and #4 are mixed up.
