I have a 115 johnson v4 seahorse 1978 motor ran fine all day brought it home and began to flush it out and it just stopped running after about 2 minutes now i have no spark at all 4 cylinders I have been told that my timer base is bad and did a resistance test on the charge coil which is showing bad could that be the problem I thought it would be the sensor coil but that showed good any help would be appreciated .

Timer bases rarely go out. I'd look elsewhere first.

thanks the dealer was saying sense my signal coil is probably the problem that i had to get a new timer base because everything is one unit timer , signal, and charge coil, could both the power packs have gone out or am I overlooking a simple solution i looked in the book for further ways to test but it says i need a cd voltmeter?

Try to disconnect the red plug between boat/motor to see if you have a faulty safety switch on kill wire, og error in boat harness. Next try to disconnect the kill wire as clouse to powerpack as possible to ensure that you just have a short to ground somewhere.

cracked open the control box and found a couple of wires that were over heated both that go to the alarm buzzer and 1 wire attached to the ignition the ign still works but maybe something shorted out in it gonna change that out and clean up the buzzer wires and see if that does anything also looked at the starboard side of the motor and found that the temp sensor wire was also melted but the starboard side was fine? I'm guessing that the port sensor went bad but i got no buzzer it just stopped running during the flush so I'm gonna change both of the temp sensors too.
