78 OMC I/O no start/wiring issues.

Hello everyone. I have a 78 Ozark with a 140 OMC I/O. I'm not getting any power to the coil. I have replaced the starter (it was bad), coil, points, and condenser. I double checked the wiring diagram and all wires are connected correctly. The 2 wires on the + side of the coil seam to be getting hot, even when disconnected, when the key is on. I am beginning to think I may have the 2 wires on the starter turned around. Going to switch those and see what happens, but thought maybe someone else might have ran into this issue. Any help would be appeciated. Thanks, William
