Let me start by saying I don't have all the info that I know I'll be asked for. My tack is not working and I'm working on getting it fixed ot replaced. About a month ago I went out early in the morning with my son and the lake was pretty still due to lack of people. So I decided to open it up and see what the speedo said. The fastest I could get the speedo to register was 26MPH. Thinking that there ain't no way I'm only doing 26MPH I borrowed my supervisors GPS. On GPS I was only able to get up to 30MPH. My question is do you think that a 79 115HP erude should be able to produce more MPH than 30. Granted I know that being in Colorado I'm at a higher altitude than probably most of you but surely I should be able to get more than what I'm getting. I don't know the pitch or size of the prop but will try to get that info this week.

Re: 79 115 E-rude top speed

what size boat? your 115 is basically a 90-95hp engine once rerated to the prop shaft output. A Pre 86' 115 runs the same size carbs, reeds, timing advance, and exhaust plate as an 87'+ 90hp engine but they do have filler plates in the reed cage. Being in Colorado and loosing about 2-3% hp per 1000ft. You could be very well down to what an equivalent 75-85hp engine does at sealevel.

Once we know what size/type boat, current prop, and current WOT RPM's we can give you a hand.
