Hi all,

I noticed that my little kicker isn't spitting water out like it should. In the owner's manual it says that the water pump acts as a "displacement" pump at low rpm's and a "centrifugal" pump at high rpm's.

I haven't opened it up yet, but is there anything different with this little pump than others?? Does it have a rubber impeller etc?? FYI, I'll get a service manual for it this week, but I'm curious whether this is the typical outboard water pump or something different.

Anybody worked on a water pump on these little guys? Any tricks?

Thx

Brent

The main secret is to have the manual, BF. You've taken care of that.

Good luck. :)

----- an update ----

Couldn't wait for the service manual, so I picked up an impeller and pulled the LU off last night. No problem, 2 bolts for LU, 2 screws for pump housing. It has a good ole rubber impeller (a wee one).

Has anyone ever heard of an outboard water pump referred to as a "displacement pump" at low rpm's and a "centrifugal pump" at high rpm's? Seems a funny thing to read in an owner's manual.

Brent
