79 55 hp chry low compression top cyl

The top cyl has 60 psi,while the lower has 165.What are the chances all it needs is a head gskt?

only one way to find out..pull off the head....and look at the cylinder and gasket

Not likely to help enough but try a decarb treatment first.
then if necessary pull the head and have a look around.

If you ran it too lean, the top cylinder is the one that goes. but you won't know until you pull the head. Even if the piston and cylinder are scored, oversized pistons are still available so the engine is repairable.
