"79 70HP cooling system

I just got the above motor Mod#709H9A. Cant figure out the cooling system. Water doesnt seem to be coming out of the motor anywhere. When I have the hose connected it seems to be running ok but I havnt let it run long because I cant verify water flow. I was wondering how can I verify the operation of the cooling system.

The first thing I would do is drop the LU and check the impeller-water pump assy. It sounds to me like something is very wrong down there.

thanks for the reply. i dropped the LU and inspected the impeler etc. loks ok. but i cant seem to verify where the water comes out.

Water should come out the exhaust snout...directly behind the prop also it should come out the discharge holes middle of the leg at the back...2 holes.<br /><br />You must have water comming out the 2 discharge holes..if not...check the thermostat in the head...also check the compression..to see if the head gasket is blown.<br /><br />TMD
