I have checked the butterflies and they now go to hrizontal, but the 18 ft 86 bayliner capri only does about 31 mph and the motor wont reach 200 rpms? its revs there quick enough , but just wont pull past there. previously the motor was only having the butterflies open about 1/4 so it revved slower but same results ,maybe 30mph at 1600 rpm...now the throttle opens better it should pull more revs...???

Read your post and correct the numbers and verbage. Won't get much help with that gooble-di- gook.

okay , simply the motor drives the boat to 30 mph ,at 1600 rpm, but it wont rev any higher,

I think maybe your tach is off or not suited to the motor. You may be overeving the old gal.

I had a similar concern , thats why I posted here...does any one else have a 100-125 hp chrysler on an 18-19 ft boat and find that 30 mph is only 1600 rpm...my voltmeter is not the inductive tach type. I have not seen a single example of someone messing with the carbs wot circuit or main jet size changes.

30 mph on 115 (less at the prop) and 18ft sounds about right ..your tacho is way out...sort that first.......1600 rpm and 30 mph not possible with say a 17 pitch prop

Tacho it whako.
Install a new tach.Or get a TinyTach and try. That will tell you what you need to know.
Give us the right readings and then we can tell what you have going on.
