We have cleaned carburaters and jets, changed plugs & still have idle trouble. Idle screw all the way in and still will not run on low idle, as soon as you put in gear dies or acts like it is starving for gas

thank you! have no way to test compression and the plugs are champion marine ql77jc4 stainless steel. starts fine just won't idle down and i really wanna go fishin

bought the boat & motor 3 years ago just now getting to use it. it has sat while we done extensive upholstery work to it and now this

Have the carbs been cleaned after it sat or before? Is the gas fresh?<br /><br />Excellent choice on plugs.

carbs cleaned after sitting and gas /oil is new

Do a decarb job. I always like to do a compression first though. If we have serious things like broken rings, then we need to know before running the motor.<br /><br />A compression gauge isnt really expensive and can tell you a lot. That and an OE manual will more than pay for themselves quickly.

It wouldnt hurt to change the filter if you have one in the boat but right now I'm concerned with the compression. Lets start with the basics and see where we're at. If we have good compression then we know we have a solid foundation.
