Re: 79 small block 350 OMC I/O needs fuel pump[
thanks everyone for the input. I have ordered the marine pump and awaiting it to be delivered. On further investigation, I also noticed other differences in the standard non-marine fuel pumps for that engine model size and year and the most noticable difference was the gallons per hour on the non-marine are only 40 as opposed to the 60 gph on the marine pump. I also purchased and have already installed a water seperating fuel filter for my boat (my previous engine had one installed, but when I replaced engine last year, it didn't have one). I am curious however about how often one should change the filter on this one, as it is not posssible to inspect the contents of this filter like the old screw on can one i used to have. This filter looks just like an oil filter and the whole thing just unscrews and is discarded when changed. How do you know when it's time to replace it ( other than engine malfunction, of course )?
