Bumping up my old thread with some new questions.

Found the culprit. The reluctor wheel had a couple teeth that had a piece broken off. Guess I didn’t inspect it well enough on the install, and the machine shop I brought it too after it wouldn’t run didn’t catch it either. That was right after all the work was done and pulled the engine again to verify the crank was good.
Anyways, the engine runs now but when we plug the cam sensor in it runs like it’s out of time. The timing is on according to the shop. They say it runs ok until they plug the cam sensor in. What could cause this?

make sure your wire harness isn't flipped upside down firing injectors out of order. The injector plug wires are tagged color coded or numbered to each cylinder. Reference to the diagram.

They set the timing by getting #1 piston tdc on compression stroke then matched the timing marks up like they should be. I assume. The timing has been checked by the last three shops, it should be in time.

Ill have to have them check check out the cam reluctor wheel and see if the sensor is hitting or not.

I belive the cam sensor is the original one to the engine. Unless they’ve tried another one. I know other shops have tried a new cam sensor when diagnosing it before we knew it was the reluctor wheel. But when it didn’t fix it I don’t believe they left the new sensor on there. Since they didn’t want to charge me for it if it didn’t fix anything.

They did just pull all the injectors and sent them off the be rebuilt and cleaned. Maybe the harness was put on wrong, but the engine runs okay until they plug in the cam sensor they say. So I’m not sure how that would affect the injectors

Just got off the phone with the shop. The new reluctor rings were installed wrong. Got a new set coming and we’ll see how it runs then after they are installed correctly.
