8 HP Mercury - Try again

My 8 hp merc starts and idles great, when i increase the speed it runs but in order to get the power,,, I need to pull the choke out. I have checked the fuel, fuel lines, filter and have switched tanks. Is my next step cleaning the carb ? high speed jet ???

cook1126,Sounds like you've got it nailed down.Likely gummy carb orifces.Year model?

Cook,<br />Yes, the next step would be to obtain a rebuild kit for your Carb and have at it. That is no doubt the cause of your problem, if all other possibilities have been used up.

Its not getting enough fuel. If the lines and tank and fittings all check out its gotta be the carb or fuel pump. Before you go into the carb have you tried pumping the fuel bulb to see if that helps which would point to the fuel pump. But its probably just a dirty carb.
