So I have a 2007 8HP Yahama long shaft for my sailboat. And Last time, the motor would not pull up, out of that water. And I realized that the mechanism to raise and lower the motor is pretty torn up. I took it to the dealer, and he says its going to be $600 in parts just to fix it. Can't you just bolt a new mounting mechanism on there? Seems a little pricey.

Some kind of transom bracket with a tilt mechanism?...maybe they make one for your boat/motor?....

you can always look up the parts needed on line, buy them , and then install them yourself.
see if that will save you any money.
If you cannot do that yourself then you are going to have to pay someone a decent wage to do it for you
